Group Project Milestone 1
Your task for this milestone is to pick a group of people to work with and a domain that you
want to design a database-driven website around.
What you need to do
- Read over the project guidelines.
- Find a group of four or five people. There are 22 people in class, so we should end
up with three groups of four people and two groups of five people.
- Give your group a name.
- Decide on a domain for your website; i.e., the "main idea" behind the application
you are building. Some ideas are listed in the project guidelines.
- Discuss how your website will function from the user's perspective. In other words,
describe how a user would interact with the website: what can can do and what they
see while doing it. Don't get technical here; use language that your parents would
understand.
What to turn in
Hand in a one-page write-up describing all of the above items (group name, members,
domain, and website functionality).
If your group members already have experience developing
database-driven websites, you may include a description in your write-up of what backend systems you'd like to use
(webserver, languages, DB engine, etc). Note that all of this will be taught in class,
but if you have expertise outside of what we'll learn in class (probably Apache, PostgreSQL/MySQL, and PHP),
then you should feel free to use it.
