Group Project Milestone 2

Your task for this milestone is to design an E/R diagram and database schema for your group project.

What you need to do

Review the project guidelines.
You should probably do homework 3 first to practice with E/R diagrams and schemas.
Construct an E/R diagram for your database. Then convert the diagram into a set of relations (express these as SQL CREATE TABLE statements). Follow the guidelines for E/R diagrams and schemas in homework 3.
Please make sure that you follow the standard conventions as described in the textbook and in class for your E/R diagrams. Any additional features that you need should be included as annotations. Try to include as many constraints as you can (as annotations) that make sense for your application. Include explanations for any constraints that are not obvious. (For example, if some constraint is the result of your design decision to allow at most one shopping cart per registered user at any time, make sure you explain this reason.) Remember that the E/R diagram is a design tool and your work will be evaluated for good design. Simply submitting a syntactically correct diagram will not get you very far if the design is poor (or poorly explained). Feel free to include English explanations as needed as notes.
Discuss with your group how to structure the rest of the semester to get this project done. Plan when you will work and what you will work on. Explicitly talk about what you will do in the next 2-3 weeks. Include a timeline or milestones.

Hand in a write-up (maximum ten pages) with your E/R diagram, database schema, and plan for getting everything done.
